Effects of Different Feeding Methods on Lactation Performance and Blood Biochemical Parameters of Simmental Cattle

Abstract: To explore the effects of different feeding methods on milk yield,milk quality and blood biochemical indexes of simmental cattle. In this experiment,16 simmental cattle with the same parity,good spirit and healthy physique were selected. They were randomly divided into two groups: house feeding group and grazing + supplementary feeding group,with 8 heads in each group. The house feeding group was fed twice a day,and the grazing + supplementary feeding group was supplemented with 1.0 kg / day·head mixed concentrate after grazing for 8 hours a day for 30 days. The results showed that the milk yield of grazing + supplementary feeding group increased by 10.09% and 11.62% respectively on the 15th and 30th day of the experiment(P < 0.05).The grazing + supplementary feeding group was beneficial to slow down the downward trend of milk yield in the late lactation stage. The milk fat rate and lactose content in grazing + supplementary feeding group were 6.35% and 10.65% higher than those in house feeding group,respectively (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in milk protein rate,total solids and non fat milk solids(P > 0.05). The contents of serum total protein,albumin and blood glucose in grazing + supplementary feeding group were 11.69%,14.21% and 20.49% higher than those in house feeding group, respectively (P < 0.05),but there was no significant difference in urea nitrogen and alkaline phosphatase (P > 0.05). The results showed that the feeding mode of grazing + supplementary feeding was beneficial to improve the lactation performance,milk quality and protein and sugar metabolism of simmental cattle.
