Rapid Determination of Iron and Zinc in Formula Milk Powder by Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry

Abstract: Objective:A new method for rapid determination of iron and zinc in formula milk powder by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence(ED-XRF)spectroscopy was established. Methods:The powder samples were made into slurry with 70~100 ℃ deionized water,scanned by ED-XFR,and quantified by standard addition method.Results:Good linearity of the method was obtained and the correlation coefficient was greater than 0.999,the lower limit of quantification of iron and zinc were 5.90 mg/kg and 3.43 mg/kg,respectively,the recoveries of iron and zinc were 98.88%~102.74% and 99.66%~102.88%,and their relative standard deviations were 0.38%~1.12% and 0.22%~0.75%,respectively. Conclusion:The method is simple,rapid and accurate,and provides valuable reference for quality control and monitoring of formula milk powder by using ED-XRF spectroscopy.
