In order to understand the prevalence of bovine viral diarrhea disease (BVD) in some large-scale dairy farms in Xinjiang, and to optimize the prevention and control measures for the purpose of building prevention and control and purification farms, a total of 26 997 serum samples and 3 843 calf ears tissues were collected from 16 dairy farms in 5 regions of Xinjiang from November 2020 to July 2021. By using IDEXX BVDV antigen detection kit and RT-PCR retesting combined with sequencing and other methods, positive cattle were eliminated, and homology analysis of the epidemic virus strains. The positive rate of BVDV was 1.63% (38/2 326) in a dairy farm in Shawan. The positive rate of BVD in a dairy farm in Urumqi was 0.35% (4/1 132). All other dairy farms were negative. The positive rate of BVDV was 1.17% (4/342) in a cow farm in Urumqi. All other dairy farms were negative. The results showed that elimination of BVDV positive cattle, adjustment of immunization program and disinfection program could effectively purify bovine viral diarrhea.
