Corn straw and whole corn are important raw materials for making silage for dairy cows.. In order to compare the effects of corn straw silage and whole plant corn silage on milk production performance of dairy cows, twenty dairy cows with the same parity, age, weight, milk production were divided into two groups, respectively fed corn straw silage and whole plant corn silage. Effects of silage on milk production performance of dairy cows were analyzed by milk yield, milk fat percentage and milk protein percentage. The results showed that the average daily milk yield of experimental group 2 was significantly higher than that of experimental group 1(P<0.01).There was no significant difference in milk fat percentage between experimental groups 1 and 2(P>0.05).The average milk protein percentage of test group 2 was significantly higher than that of test group 1(P<0.05),and the economic benefit of whole corn silage was higher than that of corn straw silage, with an increase of 736.8 yuan per head per lactation cycle.
