The shortage of high quality roughage is one of the important factors affecting the efficient development of herbivorous animal husbandry.As a kind of high quality forage,silage has become an indispensable source of bulk roughage in animal husbandry production.The annual production and usage are huge,but the waste caused by improper production and management can not be ignored. In this paper,five key links of initial preparation of silage production,timely harvesting,packing and compaction,sealing fermentation,silage maturation were summarized,including silage silo and mechanical equipment preparation,timely harvesting judgment method,filling and pressing method,sealing steps,etc..Meanwhile the characteristics and application of the new technology of silage extraction fermentation were discussed,in order to provide useful reference for readers.
