Diagnosis and Prevention Strategies for Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia

Abstract: [Objective] To systematically analyze the pathogen and epidemiological characteristics of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia(CCPP),assess its impact on the dairy goat industry,and explore integrated diagnostic and prevention strategies combining traditional Chinese and Western veterinary medicine.[Method] Based on literature review and field investigation in major dairy goat farming areas,the pathogenic features and epidemiological patterns were summarized.Modern diagnostic techniques were compared,and integrated prevention and treatment protocols combining traditional Chinese and Western veterinary medicine were studied according to syndrome differentiation.[Result] The causative agent was identified as Mycoplasma capricolum subsp.capripneumoniae(Mccp),which is highly contagious.CCPP can lead to a significant decrease in milk yield, impaired milk quality, and an increased culling rate in dairy goat herds, thereby threatening the safety of fresh goat milk production.PCR proves suitable for rapid diagnosis.The integrated approach of traditional Chinese and Western veterinary medicine significantly improves therapeutic efficacy,reduces drug resistance,and shortenes the recovery period of lactation in affected goats.[Conclusion] Diagnosis requires comprehensive evaluation based on clinical signs and laboratory tests. Prevention and control should adhere to the principle of “prevention first”,actively implementing comprehensive measures including vaccination,integrated pharmacotherapy,and strict biosecurity protocols in dairy goat operations.The integrated traditional Chinese and Western veterinary medicine approach is of great significance for promoting the healthy,stable,and sustainable development of the dairy goat industry.
