Abstract: [Objective] To explore the therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese medicine compound on calf viral diarrhea. [Method] In this experiment, 52 calves with bovine viral diarrhea were selected from a private farm in yanggu county, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, and randomly divided into 4 groups, with 13 calves in each group, namely, the control group, the low-dose group, the middle-dose group and the high-dose group. The traditional Chinese medicine compound was given orally at 0, 100, 150 and 200 g/ time, respectively, twice a day for 5 days. [Result] The effective rate and cure rate of sick calves in the high-dose group of traditional Chinese medicine compound were 92.31% and 69.23% respectively. Compared with the control group, the contents of IL-1β, IL-2 and TNF-α in the serum of sick calves in low, medium and high dose groups of Chinese herbal compound increased significantly (P< 0.05), while the content of IL-4 decreased significantly (P< 0.05). Compared with the control group, the serum immunoglobulin G in the middle and high doses of Chinese herbal compound increased significantly (P< 0.05), and the serum immunoglobulin A and CD4 contents in the low, middle and high doses of Chinese herbal compound increased significantly (P< 0.05). [Conclusion] Traditional Chinese medicine compound has a good therapeutic effect on calf viral diarrhea, improving the level of inflammatory factors and improving the immune ability of infected cows, among which the effect of traditional Chinese medicine compound group with 200 g/ time is better.
