Epidemiological Investigation and Control of Bovine Viral Diarrhea in Dairy Farm

Abstract: [Objective] To understand the prevalence of Bovine viral diarrhea virus(BVDV)infection at Yulin dairy farms in Shaanxi Province.[Method] 156 serum samples were collected from 5 dairy farms and BVDV antigen was detected by double antibody sandwich ELISA.[Result] BVDV infection was found in the four families.The positive rates of BVDV antigen ranged from 0 to 6.38%,with an average of 4.49%(7/156).The positive rates of BVDV antigen in adult cows,calves and raise cows were 5.66%,4.44% and 3.45% respectively.[Conclusion] BVDV was prevalent and persistently infected in cattle from 5 dairy farms in Yulin,Shaanxi Province. The infection rate of BVDV was high.Therefore,effective purification measures of BVDV such as periodic detection,introduction and quarantine,immunization were put forward.
