Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment of Vitamin C Deficiency in Calves

Abstract: Vitamin C deficiency,also known as scurvy,caused by ascorbic acid deficiency in animals,which leads to increased permeability of the capillary walls. It's a hemorrhagic disease,which was a common occurrence in the 1990s. Thanks to improved farming techniques,the incidence of the disease has dropped significantly,so much as that it becomes less common. In recent years, with the change of dairy farming mode in China,he diversity of feed in the diet is limited to some extent,but milk production increased dramatically,leading to a growing trend of vitamin C deficiency in dairy cows.The calf vitamin C deficiency increased significantly,resulting in greater losses.In this paper,the causes,symptoms,diagnosis and prevention of vitamin C deficiency in calves were studied and analyzed,hoping to provide some enlightenment for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
