Analysis of the Current Status and Development Trends of the Dairy Industry in Wuqing District of Tianjin City

Abstract: [Objective] To systematically analyze the current production status,economic benefits,and development trends of the dairy industry in Wuqing District of Tianjin City based on dairy herd performance testing technology,providing a basis for regional dairy management optimization and policy formulation. [Method] Using core DHI indicators (daily milk yield,milk protein,milk fat,somatic cell count,urea nitrogen),combined with data on raw milk production,price,cost,and profit,this study analyzed data from nine large-scale farms in Wuqing District from February 2023 to March 2025. [Result] From 2023 to 2025,the average daily milk yield per cow increased from 33.11 kg to 38.41 kg,a growth of 16.01%;milk fat recovered from 3.71 g/100g to 3.76 g/100g;somatic cell count decreased from 219 000 cells/mL to 171 700 cells/mL,a decline of 21.60%;milk protein decreased from 3.54 g/100g to 3.49 g/100g. During the same period,the average price of raw milk dropped from 3.62 yuan/kg to 2.76 yuan/kg,the loss per kilogram of milk expanded from 0.28 yuan to 0.72 yuan,and the number of farms decreased by 31.25%. [Conclusion] Wuqing District has achieved significant progress in increasing milk yield per cow,recovering milk fat levels,and controlling somatic cell counts.However,challenges such as declining milk protein levels and persistent production losses remain prominent.It is recommended to coordinate efforts in policy support,technological upgrading,and market expansion to promote high-quality development of the dairy industry.
