Effect of Compound Chinese Medicine on Milk Return of Dairy Cows

Abstract: [Objective]To explore the effect of compound traditional Chinese medicine on milk return of dairy cows.[Method]60 Chinese Holstein cows with similar parity and healthy body condition were randomly divided into 4 groups,15 in each group.Group I was the control group and did not feed the compound traditional Chinese medicine.Group II,III and IV were fed 100 mg/kg,200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg of compound traditional Chinese medicine respectively,and the average daily milk yield of each group was recorded.The contents of prolactin (PRL),transforming growth factor β1(TGF-β1) and transcription activator 5(STAT5) in serum of cows at day 0,1,3,5,7,9 and 11 were determined.[Result]The milk yield of dairy cows in each group was in a downward trend during the lactation period,and the lactation time of group I~IV was 11 days,7 days,7 days and 5 days respectively.During lactation,the contents of PRL and STAT5 in serum of dairy cows in each group showed a trend of gradual decrease.The content of TGF-β1 increased gradually.[Conclusion]The compound Chinese medicine can promote the milk return of dairy cows and the content change of the above lactation factors.
