Effects of Compound Chinese Herbal Medicine Additive on Performance of Dairy Cows

Abstract: [Objective] To study the effects of different contents of compound Chinese herbal medicine additives on the performance of dairy cows. [Method] Sixty Holstein cows with similar body weight,same parity and good body condition were randomly divided into 4 groups,each group has 15 cows. The control group was fed the basal diet,and the experimental groups I,II and III were fed the basal diet supplemented with compound Chinese herbal medicine additive 200 g/d·h,250 g/d·h,300 g/d·h,respectively. The experiment lasted for 30 days. [Result] Compared with the control group, the supplementation of 250 g/d·h compound Chinese herbal medicine additive significantly decreased the milk fat percentage and somatic cell number in milk, and compared with the control group, the supplementation of 250 g/d·h compound Chinese herbal medicine additive significantly decreased the milk fat percentage and somatic cell number in milk(P<0.05),significantly increased the feed intake,milk yield and milk protein percentage of milk(P<0.05).[Conclusion] 250 g/d·h compound Chinese herbal medicine can be added to the diet as feed additives to improve the performance of dairy cows and economic benefits of dairy farms.
