Abstract: [Objective] To explore the effect of compound Chinese herbal medicine on preventing and treating dairy goat mastitis. [Methods] A total of 52 dairy goats with mastitis with similar body condition and parity were randomly divided into 4 groups, control group, trial group Ⅰ, trial group Ⅱ and trial group Ⅲ were given compound Chinese herbal medicine of 0 g/ animal, 100 g/ animal, 200 g/ animal and 300 g/ animal, respectively, twice a day for 5 days. [Results] Compared with the control group, the disease situation of dairy goats in experimental groups was significantly improved. The effective rate and cure rate of groups Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ were 61.54% and 53.85%, 84.62% and 76.92%, 100.00% and 92.31%, respectively. The contents of CAT, SOD and GSH-Px in serum of experimental groups Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly increased (P < 0.05); The content of MDA in serum of experimental groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ was significantly decreased (P < 0.05), and the content of T-AOC was significantly increased (P < 0.05). The milk protein and lactose rates of goat milk in groups Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly increased (P < 0.05), while the somatic cell number was significantly decreased (P < 0.05); The milk fat percentage and total milk solids in goat milk of test groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly increased (P < 0.05). [Conclusion] Administration of compound Chinese herbs can effectively treat mastitis of dairy goats, improve antioxidant properties and milk quality of dairy goats, and 300 g/ goat per day is the best effect.
