Importance and Management of Drinking Water for Calves

Abstract: The growth and development of calves has an important impact on the production performance in adulthood,so the feeding and management of calves is very important. Water is a important nutrient source for calves to maintain basis metabolism,health and growth, but it is easy to be ignored by managers compared to milk replacer and starter. This paper analyzed the importance of drinking water for calves and relationship between water demand and food intake,and discussed the key point of drinking management,so as to provide guidance for strengthening the management of drinking water for calves and improving the management level of calves.
