Utilization of the Alpine Dairy Goat Germplasm Resources and Breeding of New Dairy Goat Varieties

Abstract: The lack of improved varieties of the dairy goat is the bottleneck issue that restricts the development of high-quality dairy goat industry in China. The macroscopic features and production performance of the Alpine dairy goat were introduced in this paper. Furthermore this study illuminated the new technology of modern molecular breeding that combines grading up and functional gene selection by Alpine dairy goat as male parent and Guanzhong dairy goat as female parent,which breed new varieties of high-quality and high-yield dairy goats suitable for intensive production. In brief,it is expected to effectively solve the issue of the dairy goat industrialization development in China,such as serious inbreeding,breast shape,significant difference of milk yield and composition and support the high-quality development of China dairy goat industry.
